A federal judge has dismissed the majority of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) lawsuit against SolarWinds, a software company accused of defrauding investors by hiding security weaknesses in its Orion software before and after a significant cyberattack. The dismissed lawsuit alleged that SolarWinds misled investors about its cybersecurity practices and the impact of a major data breach, which was part of a massive 2020 hack linked to Russia. U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer in Manhattan ruled against most of the SEC's claims, including securities fraud and false filings, leaving only one charge standing.
