The finance industry has successfully transitioned to a faster settlement cycle for US securities trades, moving from T+2 to T+1. This change, which aims to achieve real-time settlement, was implemented smoothly despite some initial delays in overnight systems. According to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler, the shift has gone smoothly and is expected to lower risks and expedite transactions for investors. The proportion of failed trades remained stable at 1.90% on Wednesday, the first day of the new system, but saw an increase on Thursday, highlighting ongoing challenges.
