Cyril Yu, a former San Francisco Department of Building Inspection plan checker, was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for accepting $15,000 in bribes from a local developer in return for expediting building plans. Yu took these bribes between 2018 and shortly before his resignation in 2021, receiving envelopes of cash ranging from $1,200 to $1,700. This sentencing is part of a broader federal corruption probe into San Francisco's City Hall.
