The era of NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) collectives issuing fines to athletes for misconduct has begun. This practice, while not publicly discussed until now, has been occurring at schools across the country since the NIL era started. Many NIL collective contracts include financial penalties for issues related to academics and other off-field matters. Georgia's NIL collective, for instance, does not directly fine athletes but includes morals clauses in contracts that allow for pay deductions.
