The British pound has started the week on an upward trajectory against both the US dollar and the euro, reaching its highest level versus the euro in over two and a half years. The EUR/GBP exchange rate has hit new lows for 2024, with the euro falling 0.3% to 0.8249 against the pound, the lowest since March 2022. This movement reflects the diverging monetary policies between the ECB, which is pursuing a more aggressive easing stance, and the BOE, which remains reticent. The EUR/GBP rate has also seen a 0.2% drop to 0.8257, opening the door to a further drop towards the 2022 bottom, with a potential bounce towards 0.8300.
