OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has expressed a notably optimistic view about the future prospects for Generation Z amid growing concerns about artificial intelligence. Altman described today's graduates as the "luckiest kids in history," highlighting the potential for AI-powered tools to create unprecedented career opportunities. He envisions the coming decade as an exciting period, particularly for those aspiring to work in emerging fields such as space exploration. Altman also suggested that by 2035, graduates could secure high-paying jobs in the space industry, and that advancements like GPT-5 might enable individuals to build billion-dollar companies independently. While acknowledging the risk of job displacement due to AI, Altman and other tech leaders like Bill Gates and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasize AI as a tool for augmentation rather than replacement, with Gates noting that even skilled workers may face challenges from AI. Huang envisions a future where AI handles routine tasks, potentially reducing workweeks to two or three days. These perspectives underscore a complex but potentially transformative impact of AI on the workforce and economy.
