Uber lost a legal challenge to California's gig work law in a US appeals court. Massachusetts's top court approved a ballot initiative to determine if Uber and Lyft drivers should be classified as independent contractors. The initiative will allow voters to decide on the employment status of gig drivers for app-based companies.
