Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with Libya’s Parliament Speaker, Aguila Saleh, in Cairo to discuss the latest developments in Libya and the necessity of unifying efforts for a comprehensive political settlement to resolve the Libyan crisis. Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Libya and its national institutions, emphasizing that Libya's stability is integral to Egypt’s own security. Aguila Saleh highlighted Egypt’s support for the political process as a key pillar for restoring security and stability in Libya. Additionally, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, held a phone call with the UN envoy to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, expressing Egypt’s support for UN-led efforts to launch a political process to resolve the Libyan crisis. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of respecting Libya’s sovereignty and keeping it free from external interference. Meanwhile, the Arab League, represented by Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed readiness to accompany Libyans in finding suitable solutions to the ongoing crisis.
