Political commentator Tucker Carlson has accused the Trump administration of orchestrating a cover-up in the Jeffrey Epstein case after the Justice Department released a memo this week maintaining that Epstein died by suicide in 2019 and that investigators found no client list or evidence of blackmail. Speaking on 8 July during an online interview with journalist Saagar Enjeti, Carlson said the memo contradicted earlier statements by Attorney General Pam Bondi and ignored public demands to identify alleged abusers connected to Epstein. Carlson argued that Bondi’s decision to close the probe without naming suspects or releasing additional files is “very dangerous,” contending that withholding such information after acknowledging that “thousands of children were raped” could fuel widespread unrest. “I don’t want a revolution, but if you wanted a revolution, this is how you would act,” he said. Bondi has defended the move, saying most unreleased material constitutes child pornography that cannot legally be made public. President Donald Trump, who previously pledged full disclosure of Epstein records during his 2024 campaign, dismissed questions about the memo at a Cabinet meeting, telling reporters the matter had been discussed for years and urging them to focus on current crises. The administration has not indicated whether any further review of the Epstein files is planned.
