US drone manufacturer Anduril Industries and German defense company Rheinmetall AG have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and produce advanced aerial drones and solid rocket motors for European markets. The collaboration aims to build European variants of Anduril's Fury autonomous air vehicle and Barracuda missile, enhancing Europe's sovereign military capabilities. Rheinmetall plans to integrate these autonomous air vehicles into new military platforms. The partnership also includes exploring production of solid rocket motors using Anduril's manufacturing methods, with domestic production in Europe under consideration. This joint effort reflects Europe's increasing reliance on American defense technology to strengthen its military capabilities amid a broader context of European rearmament and competition with traditional European missile manufacturers.
