
European venture capital funds have set new performance records, outperforming North American funds over 10 and 15-year timeframes, according to Invest Europe Performance Benchmark data. Additionally, private equity and venture capital firms invested a total of €194.9 billion into European companies last year, as highlighted in Invest Europe’s Transaction Value report. Main has bought a majority stake in an ECM software business. Venture debt deal value in Europe has already reached €17.8 billion this year, surpassing last year’s €12.9 billion total and on track to beat 2022’s record of €28.1 billion. European growth capital delivered a 14.47% net IRR, significantly higher than MSCI Europe's 7.35%. Over 20-year timeframes, European growth capital funds have consistently delivered net returns of 15% or more.
