European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said the European Union must further reduce internal trade barriers and streamline regulation if it wants the euro to strengthen its position as a global currency. Lagarde argued that greater efficiency and deeper economic integration across the bloc would support the single market and make the currency more attractive internationally.
