Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi traveled to Europe from June 30 to July 6, visiting the European Union headquarters in Brussels, Germany, and France to engage in high-level strategic dialogues. During his visit, Wang participated in the 13th China-EU High-level Strategic Dialogue, the 8th China-Germany Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy and Security, and held talks with French officials, including attending the 7th China-France High-level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism meeting. Wang emphasized strengthening cooperation, managing differences, and laying political groundwork for future China-EU relations. He dismissed European concerns over China's export controls on rare earth elements, stating that rare earth exports would not become an issue between China and Europe and that China has established a "fast lane" for European companies complying with regulations. Wang also met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron, with both European leaders expressing interest in maintaining a stable, cooperative partnership with China amid global uncertainties. Furthermore, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit China on July 24, where they will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This visit will include the 25th China-EU Summit, marking the first in-person summit since 2023. The summit is expected to focus on trade disputes and the Ukraine conflict.
