Wave Ventures, Europe's largest Gen Z-led venture capital firm based in Finland, has closed its third fund at €7 million, tripling the size of its previous fund. The fund is backed by investors including founders of Slack, Skype, Supercell, Wolt, Bolt, Silo AI, and Smartly.io, as well as Nordic VCs and family offices. Founded in 2016 and led by CEO Antonia Eneh, Wave Ventures focuses on early-stage investments in startups led by founders under 30 across the Nordics and Baltics. The firm plans to invest in 3 to 10 new startups per country each year, primarily through angel and pre-seed investments of up to €100,000. Wave Ventures operates with a small, rotating team of Gen Z investors embedded in startup ecosystems in Helsinki, Stockholm, and Tallinn, aiming to identify promising entrepreneurs early. The firm has made over 50 initial investments, including in companies such as Carbo Culture, Normative, Paebbl, Intergrid, Exa Laboratories, Inven, Vetnio, Noice, ThirdTime Games, Iona Health, and Calqulate. Wave has backed nearly 80% of VC-backed Finnish startups led by CEOs under 30. The fund's launch comes as advances in generative AI, no-code tools, and open-source technologies lower barriers to startup creation in the region.
