Palm Beach County commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to rename a four-mile section of Southern Boulevard— the route linking Palm Beach International Airport with President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence— as “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.” The local action activates state legislation that Governor Ron DeSantis signed on 13 June directing the Florida Department of Transportation to erect the new markers once county approval was secured. Officials say the ceremonial signs should be in place by September, while postal addresses and emergency-response systems will continue to reference Southern Boulevard. Trump hailed the decision on Truth Social, calling the change a “wonderful honor” and thanking DeSantis and state lawmakers. The roadway tribute follows a public show of unity between the two Republicans last week, when the president rated his relationship with the governor a “10—maybe 9.9.” The stretch becomes the second Florida thoroughfare named for Trump after Hialeah’s “President Donald J. Trump Avenue” last year. The same statute also designates another portion of State Road 80 as “PBSO Motorman Highway” in memory of three Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies killed in a 2024 crash. Despite some resident objections, no commissioner opposed Tuesday’s vote.
“It has been brought to my attention that the Great State of Florida, which I won BIG three times, and where I am a proud Resident, has renamed an important four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard, in Palm Beach County, to ‘PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP BOULEVARD.'"
