French police have opened an inquiry after four male bodies were recovered from the Seine at Choisy-le-Roi, a southern suburb of Paris, on 13 August. The discovery was triggered when a passenger on the RER C commuter line reported spotting a corpse floating near the riverbank. Responding officers and the Paris river brigade found the initial body and three more within a short distance—one submerged, one trapped in branches, another drifting with the current, and the fourth alongside the quay. Investigators believe the remains had been in the water for several days. According to preliminary police information, the victims are four adults—three described as of African origin and one of North-African origin. Three were fully clothed, while one was partially unclothed. No obvious connection among the men has been established, and the scene showed no immediate signs of foul play. The corpses were transferred to the Institut Médico-Légal de Paris for autopsies and identification. The local Choisy-le-Roi precinct is leading the investigation and may request assistance from the Val-de-Marne judicial police as forensic results come in.
