The Los Angeles Police Department on Wednesday arrested 20-year-old Brycson Gaddis on suspicion of murder in the death of a young boy whose body was found near a dumpster in Panorama City four days earlier. Jail records show Gaddis is being held on USD 2 million bail. A second individual was taken into custody on unrelated allegations. The unidentified boy, believed to be between five and seven years old, was discovered on 12 July in a parking lot off the 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard. Investigators said the child showed signs of trauma, but the coroner has yet to determine an official cause of death. No match has been found in missing-persons databases. Detectives served a search warrant late Tuesday at an apartment complex on Lanark Street, about half a mile from the crime scene, detaining five adults for questioning and removing two children under the supervision of child-welfare officials. Community members who had gathered earlier for a candlelight vigil jeered as police vehicles departed the area. Police continue to review surveillance footage and other evidence to reconstruct the boy’s final hours and to establish any additional suspects or motives.
