A ticket purchased in France matched all five numbers and two Lucky Stars in the EuroMillions draw of 19 August, securing the game’s €250 million top prize—the maximum possible payout—and establishing the largest lottery win ever recorded in the country, operator Française des Jeux (FDJ) said. The winning combination—24, 31, 34, 41, 43 plus stars 6 and 8—surpasses the previous national record of €220 million set in French Polynesia in 2021. It is only the third time the €250 million ceiling has been hit since EuroMillions began in 2004, following wins in Austria in March and Ireland in June this year. Lottery gains are not subject to income tax in France. The anonymous winner has 60 days to present the ticket to FDJ, which will offer financial and psychological guidance through its standard “winners’ experience” programme. With the jackpot claimed, the EuroMillions top prize will reset to €17 million for the next draw scheduled on 26 August.
