Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi issued a season-closing statement on 16 July, thanking players, staff and supporters after what he called “the most unforgettable season” in the club’s history. PSG secured their first UEFA Champions League crown by defeating Inter Milan and completed a domestic treble with triumphs in Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions. The squad, described by Al-Khelaïfi as the second-youngest ever to lift the European trophy, also reached the Club World Cup final, where it fell to Chelsea.
