Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said the Ballon d’Or jury would have “a problem” if forward Ousmane Dembélé does not win this year’s award. Speaking on the eve of PSG’s FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final against Bayern Munich in Georgia, the Qatari executive argued that Dembélé’s impact in the 2024-25 campaign leaves “no doubt” about the outcome. Dembélé, 28, scored 33 goals and provided 15 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions as PSG captured their first Champions League title on 1 June, along with domestic league, cup and super-cup honours. The France international was also voted player of the tournament in Europe’s premier club competition. The list of Ballon d’Or nominees will be unveiled on 7 August, with the winner to be announced on 22 September. Dembélé has called the past season “the best of my career,” crediting coach Luis Enrique for greater tactical freedom after taking over the central striker role following Kylian Mbappé’s departure.
