A large wildfire has been burning near Narbonne in the Aude department since July 7, 2025, consuming over 2,000 hectares of vegetation. The fire has forced the closure of the A9 motorway and led to the evacuation and confinement of residents in nearby areas, including a hamlet whose houses were ultimately affected by the flames. On July 8, a separate fire broke out in the Hérault department near Castelnau-de-Guers, burning at least 400 hectares and causing the A9 motorway to be closed between Sète and Agde in both directions. Authorities have responded by shutting down sections of the A9 to manage safety amid multiple fire outbreaks in the region.
