On July 3, 2025, a 20-year-old Syrian asylum seeker named Mohammed A. attacked passengers on a high-speed Intercity Express (ICE) train traveling from Hamburg, Germany, to Vienna, Austria. Armed with an axe and a hammer, he injured four people, all of whom sustained light injuries and were taken to hospitals. The attack occurred near Straßkirchen in Lower Bavaria.
