During the fourth stage of the 2025 Tour de France between Amiens and Rouen, an incident occurred involving a 21-year-old man armed with a knife near the finish line in Rouen. The individual, described as mentally unstable and wearing a djellaba, threatened spectators and attacked a police officer, injuring him in the hand. Police intervened swiftly, neutralizing the suspect with a gunshot. The officer, protected by a bulletproof vest, sustained only minor injuries. The attacker was taken into custody and remains under police guard. The event took place approximately two hours before the cyclists' arrival, causing disruption to the race festivities but no reported harm to the cyclists themselves. Authorities have not disclosed the suspect's motives, but reports indicate he had escaped from a psychiatric hospital on June 24. The rapid police response prevented further escalation during the event.
