The Pinault family, which holds a 29% stake in German sportswear maker Puma through its holding company Artémis, is exploring options including a potential sale of its shares. This move comes after Puma's market value declined by approximately 50% over the past year. The family has engaged advisors and reached out to potential buyers, which reportedly include Chinese sportswear companies Anta and Li Ning, U.S. competitors, and sovereign wealth funds from the Middle East. Following reports of the possible sale, Puma's shares surged significantly, with increases ranging from 16% to over 20%, marking one of the fastest gains in more than two decades. Puma declined to comment on the matter. The exploration of a sale reflects the challenges faced by the brand amid its recent market value drop.
