Hungarian leaders have accused Ukraine of jeopardising Central Europe’s energy security after a series of drone strikes damaged the Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline, the main conduit for Russian crude to Hungary and Slovakia. Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said the pipeline had been hit three times since 22 August and called the attacks “outrageous and scandalous,” warning Kyiv to “stop threatening Hungary and end the reckless attacks on our energy security.” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán echoed the criticism, saying President Volodymyr Zelensky’s public remark that “friendship depends on Hungary’s stance” amounted to an open threat. Orbán said the strikes would “cast a long shadow” over bilateral ties and reaffirmed Budapest’s opposition to Ukraine’s bid for European Union membership. Ukraine’s foreign ministry defended its position, urging Hungary to diversify away from Russian energy supplies. Kyiv has not formally claimed responsibility for the pipeline incidents, but Zelensky’s comments were widely interpreted in Budapest as an admission of intent. Repairs to the pipeline are expected to take several days, according to Hungarian officials. The dispute adds a new layer of tension within Europe as winter approaches. U.S. President Donald Trump weighed in, saying he was “very angry” about the disruption to Hungary’s energy supply.

🇸🇰ROBERT FICO: "I want to express my admiration for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for not hesitating to go to both Kiev and Moscow. If my health allowed, I would have loved to join him. There are never enough peace talks and peace initiatives. I repeat, never https://t.co/IZXZRmICUp
