Bengaluru police have registered a murder case after 46-year-old history-sheeter Shivaprakash was hacked to death outside his home in Halasuru in the early hours of Tuesday. Investigators say a group of four to five men arrived in a car and attacked the victim with machetes before fleeing. Authorities have named Bharatiya Janata Party legislator and former Karnataka minister Byrathi Basavaraj among five accused in the case. Officers are examining Basavaraj’s possible role in abetment while searching for the assailants. Senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner D. Devaraj and Joint Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, visited the crime scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
