Bengaluru police are searching for two siblings accused of setting a relative’s house on fire after a long-running dispute over an unpaid ₹5 lakh loan. CCTV footage from 1 July shows Subramani and his sister Parvati pouring petrol and igniting the residence of 62-year-old Venkataramani in the city’s Viveknagar neighbourhood while he and his son Mohan Das were inside. The loan was reportedly extended seven to eight years ago to fund Parvati’s daughter Mahalakshmi’s wedding. Investigators say tensions flared again during a recent family function, prompting the alleged arson attempt. Neighbours heard screams and managed to pull the occupants to safety, limiting injuries to shock and smoke inhalation, though the front portion of the house and several windows were destroyed. A complaint filed by Venkataramani’s other son, Satish, led officers to open a case under sections 109, 326(g), 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Subramani, Parvati and Mahalakshmi remain at large, and police have formed teams to track them down.
