Entrepreneur and investor Sushil Kedia’s office in Worli, Mumbai, was damaged on 5 July when a group of men shouting slogans in support of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) smashed windows and hurled coconuts and stones at the premises, according to Mumbai Police. No injuries were reported, and investigators said they are reviewing security footage to identify the attackers, whom several witnesses described as MNS supporters. The incident follows a social-media post by Kedia on 3 July in which he tagged MNS chief Raj Thackeray and declared that, despite living in Mumbai for three decades, he "won’t learn Marathi" until "people like Thackeray" stop claiming to defend Marathi speakers. The comment provoked threats online and prompted police to deploy security outside his office before the attack. Hours after the vandalism, Kedia released a video statement saying he had “overreacted” and was withdrawing his remarks, while appealing for calm. Mumbai Police said a case of vandalism and intimidation has been registered and that efforts are under way to trace those involved. The MNS has not issued an official response.
