The ongoing 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar, led by Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with allies including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has sparked a political controversy. The yatra aims to highlight alleged electoral malpractices, with Rahul Gandhi accusing the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Election Commission of vote theft in various states including Maharashtra, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Gandhi claims that new legislation passed in 2023 protects the ruling party from legal challenges regarding election conduct. The yatra has received enthusiastic public support but has also drawn criticism from BJP and allied leaders, who accuse the opposition of spreading misinformation, insulting Bihar and its people, and making derogatory remarks against PM Modi and his late mother during rallies, particularly in Darbhanga. These remarks have been widely condemned by BJP leaders, state chief ministers, and union ministers across India, including Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, and others, who called the language used during the rallies indecent and unacceptable in democratic discourse. The controversy has intensified political tensions ahead of upcoming elections. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marked its centenary with a three-day event in Delhi, where its chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke about the organization's ideology and vision for India. The centenary celebrations were attended by various BJP leaders and public figures who praised the RSS's role in national development. Concurrently, Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 was celebrated across India with large-scale religious events and prayers at prominent temples such as Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai, Siddhivinayak Temple, and various temples in Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and other states, with participation from political leaders, celebrities, and the public.
