JUST IN | Supreme Court seeks government response to a plea to include ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy in the Ayushman Bharat scheme. - @kdrajagopal reports
The Supreme Court of India has recently dismissed a review petition against its earlier judgment that refused to order a re-examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2024. This decision was confirmed on November 6, 2024. Additionally, the Court has overturned a 2021 ruling that stripped the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of its power to issue notices for the recovery of customs dues. This ruling, which could potentially revive DRI notices worth an unspecified amount, was announced on November 7, 2024. The Supreme Court also declined to entertain a petition to introduce yoga in schools as part of the Right to Education Act, while seeking a government response to a plea for including Ayurveda, yoga, and naturopathy in the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Furthermore, the Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation requesting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged use of animal fat in the preparation of Tirupati laddus during the previous administration of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
