BJP supporters led by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya marched from Lalbagh North Gate to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) headquarters on 5 July, protesting delays in opening the Namma Metro’s Yellow Line, which links South Bengaluru with the Electronic City technology hub. Surya handed a memorandum to BMRCL Managing Director Maheshwar Rao, accusing the agency of repeatedly extending project deadlines and withholding the Fare Fixation Committee’s report. He also criticised a recent 100 percent hike in metro fares, saying the increase was approved after officials undertook an "international tour" but without adequate public disclosure.
