Congress leader and Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared at the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi for hearings related to the National Herald Case, representing Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Meanwhile, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has been actively involved in multiple political events and legal proceedings. On July 9, 2025, Rahul Gandhi traveled to Patna, Bihar, to join and lead protests organized by the Mahagathbandhan alliance against the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He was joined by RJD leader and state LoP Tejashwi Yadav, CPI General Secretary D Raja, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, and Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram. The protests included a statewide bandh with demonstrations and marches towards the Election Commission office, highlighting concerns over alleged electoral roll manipulations. During the protests, Congress leaders Kanhaiya Kumar and Independent MP Pappu Yadav were reportedly denied access to the truck carrying senior Mahagathbandhan leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, leading to political discussions within the alliance. Subsequently, Rahul Gandhi appeared in an MP-MLA court in Lucknow on July 15, 2025, in a defamation case related to his alleged derogatory remarks about the Indian Army made during the 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra. The court granted him bail, providing legal relief. Following these events, Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge visited Assam on July 16, 2025, where they engaged in a series of meetings with party functionaries, including the Political Affairs Committee, PCC office bearers, MPs, MLAs, and district leaders. They also addressed Congress workers in Guwahati and Chaygaon, emphasizing the party's preparations for the upcoming 2026 Assam Assembly elections. The visit marked the first engagement of the top Congress leadership in Assam since the appointment of Gaurav Gogoi as the state party chief. Throughout these developments, Rahul Gandhi has maintained a prominent role in both legal and political arenas ahead of key elections in India.
