Social-media personality Uorfi Javed and professional poker player Nikita Luther were crowned joint winners of the first season of reality series “The Traitors India,” which concluded on 4 July. The pair split a cash prize of Rs 70.5 lakh after outlasting 18 other celebrity contestants in the strategy-driven competition streamed on Amazon Prime Video. Host Karan Johar said the duo’s "sharp observation and timely decision-making" helped them unravel the show’s final mystery and secure victory. Other finalists included Jasmin Bhasin, Apoorva Mukhija and Sudhanshu Pandey, while Purav Jha and Harsh Gujral were revealed as the last remaining “traitors.” In a post-win statement on social media, Javed said she has received threats and abusive messages following the broadcast but added that the experience had strengthened her resolve. Amazon has renewed the series for a second season.
