
Vipin Bhati Accused of Killing Wife Nikki Over ₹36L Dowry in Greater Noida Shot in Police Encounter, Family Members Arrested, Judicial Custody
In Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Vipin Bhati has been accused of murdering his wife Nikki Bhati over dowry demands amounting to ₹36 lakh. Nikki was reportedly set on fire, resulting in severe burns covering 70% of her body, leading to her death. The case was registered on August 21 following information that Vipin, with the assistance of his family members, had killed his wife. Vipin was injured in a police encounter during an attempt to flee custody and was shot in the leg. He has expressed no remorse and denied the murder, claiming Nikki died on her own. Subsequently, multiple family members have been arrested, including Nikki's mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. All accused have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody and lodged in the District Jail, Gautam Budh Nagar. The victim's family has expressed satisfaction with the administration's efforts, and investigations continue with statements being recorded. The National Commission for Women is in contact with the police and the victim's family. BJP MP Mahesh Sharma has visited the family and assured support. The case has drawn national attention due to its brutality and the involvement of dowry demands as a motive.
