Apple on 30 July released a round of maintenance updates across its software portfolio, led by iOS 18.6 for iPhone and matching versions for iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Vision Pro. The company said the patches focus on security and reliability and are likely among the last point releases before the expected debut of iOS 26 and other major upgrades in September. The iOS 18.6 update corrects more than two dozen security flaws, including WebKit weaknesses that could expose sensitive data, VoiceOver behaviour that might read passcodes aloud, and privacy indicators that sometimes failed to appear when the microphone or camera was accessed. It also resolves a long-standing Photos app bug that prevented users from sharing ‘Memory’ movies. For users in the European Union, iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 add an interface that allows alternative app stores and direct downloads from developer websites, changes Apple is making to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act. On the desktop, macOS 15.6 Sequoia addresses 81 security vulnerabilities and improves enterprise features such as certificate selection and device provisioning. watchOS 11.6, visionOS 2.6 and tvOS 18.6 deliver similar security-centric fixes and general performance improvements. Apple recommends all users install the updates promptly to mitigate the disclosed vulnerabilities and ensure a smoother transition to the forthcoming iOS 26, macOS 16 and other fall releases.
