Activision has announced that its upcoming game Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will require players on PC to enable Secure Boot and have Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 as part of its anti-cheat measures. The rollout of Secure Boot testing will begin during Warzone Season 5, with full implementation expected at the launch of Black Ops 7 later this year. Meanwhile, Electronic Arts (EA) has launched the open beta for Battlefield 6 across all platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The Battlefield 6 open beta has set new records on Steam, reaching a peak concurrent player count of 520,000, surpassing the previous highest peak of 491,000 held by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. The beta requires Secure Boot on PC, though some players have reported difficulties enabling it. Despite these security measures, cheating attempts have still been detected; the Battlefield 6 anti-cheat team reported preventing 330,000 cheating attempts and receiving 104,000 player reports during the first two days of open beta early access. EA stated that Secure Boot is not a "silver bullet" against cheaters but is part of a broader anti-cheat strategy. The Battlefield 6 beta has been described as the franchise's biggest beta ever, with strong player engagement and positive discussions around gameplay elements such as time-to-kill and weapon balance. The beta is scheduled to continue with open weekends from August 9-10 and 14-17, following early access periods on August 7-8. Additionally, Battlefield 6 is noted to run optimally on PlayStation 5 Pro, offering enhanced graphical features.
