The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has informed Congress of a major cybersecurity incident involving a breach of its email system. Hackers accessed over 150,000 emails from at least 100 bank regulators, with messages dating back to June 2023. The breach, which was classified as major, allowed unauthorized access to sensitive financial information related to the banks overseen by the OCC. Reports indicate that the hackers intercepted emails for more than a year, raising concerns about the security of financial data managed by the agency.
