Japanese Imperial Family Including Princess Aiko to Visit Nagasaki on September 12 for War Dead Memorial and Peace Park Ceremony

The Japanese Imperial Family is scheduled to visit Nagasaki Prefecture starting September 12, 2025, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and honor war dead. Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, and their daughter Princess Aiko will participate in memorial activities, including placing flowers at the Peace Park's cenotaph and visiting the Atomic Bomb Museum. This visit follows previous commemorations at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Hiroshima. During the trip, the Emperor and Empress will also attend the opening ceremony of the National Cultural Festival in Sasebo City. Additionally, Crown Princess Kiko and Princess Kako recently visited Hiroshima to pay respects at the Cenotaph for the Victims of the Atomic Bomb.
