Irish fintech company NomuPay has secured $40 million in Series C funding from SB Payment Service (SBPS), a subsidiary of Japan's SoftBank Corp, raising its valuation to $290 million. The investment is aimed at accelerating NomuPay's expansion into Japan and other Asian markets, and follows a $37 million Series B round at a $200 million valuation in January 2025. This brings NomuPay's total funding to over $130 million. NomuPay's Unified Payments (uP) platform enables merchants to process cross-border payments across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East through a single API, addressing the challenges of fragmented payment systems in the region. The company plans to use the new capital to add Japanese alternative payment methods to its platform, expand coverage to Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam, and pursue acquisitions. NomuPay acquired Total Processing, a Manchester-based payment processing startup, in November 2023. The company, founded in 2021 by Peter Burridge and Radboud Vlaar of Finch Capital after acquiring licenses from the collapsed German payments firm Wirecard, now serves over 2,000 merchants globally and has onboarded more than 500 new merchants since its previous funding round. NomuPay has over 250 employees and expects to increase its growth by over 70% year over year. The company expects to exceed $45 million in gross annualized run-rate revenues and $20 million in net revenue by the end of 2025, and aims to achieve profitability within the year. The partnership with SBPS will also allow SBPS to leverage NomuPay's gateway-agnostic platform to expand its domestic offering globally. NomuPay's growth strategy includes local hiring, enhanced partnerships, and the integration of AI agents to improve transaction analysis, reconciliation, and fraud detection for merchants.
