Spanish La Liga club RC Celta Vigo has signed 18-year-old Kenyan midfielder Aldrine Kibet on a four-year contract that runs through 2029, the club said on 16 July. Kibet, who joins on a free transfer, will begin with the club’s reserve side, Celta Fortuna, while holding a youth player registration. The attacking midfielder rose to prominence at St. Anthony’s Boys High School, leading the team to the 2023 Kenya Secondary School Sports Association title, where he was named MVP and top scorer. After the school tournament, Kibet moved to Nastic Sports Academy in Spain under Kenya’s Talanta Hela development initiative and impressed at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. His transfer represents one of the most significant leaps yet for a Kenyan youth prospect into a top European league, underlining the growing recognition of the country’s talent pipeline.
