A night fire in Bulapesa, Isiolo County, killed a 45-year-old woman and her four children after their house was allegedly set ablaze in a revenge attack tied to a suspected love triangle, according to local officials. Residents, angered by the deaths, later lynched a woman they believed had started the fire and torched her home before police arrived. Authorities say investigations are under way and have appealed for calm amid fears of further reprisals. The Isiolo tragedy came hours after two other fatal house fires in central and western Kenya. In Mathira, Nyeri County, siblings aged eight and four died when flames engulfed their family’s home, while in Tegat, Bomet County, a five-year-old child was killed and a sibling escaped with minor injuries. Police have opened separate probes to determine the causes of the Nyeri and Bomet blazes.
