A funeral service was held in Ndumberi, Kiambu County, for 12-year-old Bridgit Njoki Wainaina, who was fatally shot at her home during the nationwide Saba Saba protests earlier this month. The primary-school pupil was eulogised by family, classmates and clergy at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church before interment in her family’s village. Njoki’s relatives reiterated calls for accountability, saying the child was struck by a police bullet while demonstrations unfolded nearby. In a separate service the same day, 24-year-old Joseph Kagiri, another protest victim, was buried in Ndeiya, Kiambu. Human-rights groups have urged authorities to investigate the shootings and release findings on the use of live ammunition during the 7 July protests.
