The Kenyan judiciary convened its 12th Heads of Station Forum, which included the launch of the Mahakama Popote Guidelines aimed at enhancing judicial efficiency and accountability. Key attendees included Chief Justice Martha Koome, Chief Registrar Winfridah Mokaya, and Makueni County officials such as Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili and Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. The forum featured sessions on registry management led by Magistrates Court Registrar Caroline Kabucho and a presentation on ethics in justice delivery by Godfrey Oyugi from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. Subsequently, the Supreme Court of Kenya held Special Closing File Proceedings to honor the late Senior Counsel Pheroze Nowrojee, with Chief Justice Koome presiding alongside Court of Appeal President Justice Daniel Musinga and Principal Judges Oscar Angote and Eric Ogola. Nowrojee was remembered for his independence, courage, and contributions to legal education across East Africa, including teaching at the University of Dar es Salaam, University of Nairobi, and Kenya School of Law. He was also noted for his defense of constitutionalism and human rights during Kenya's repressive periods in the 1980s and 1990s. Chief Justice Koome described his death as a monumental loss to the legal profession and the nation. Additionally, the Chief Khadhi of Kenya, Sheikh Abdulhalim Hussein, passed away in Mombasa. Pheroze Nowrojee’s ashes were brought back to Kenya where his family held a memorial.
