A medical light aircraft operated by AMREF crashed on August 7, 2025, in the Mwihoko area of Kiambu County near Nairobi, Kenya, killing six people. The victims included four occupants of the Cessna aircraft—two doctors and two nurses—and two individuals on the ground in a residential area where the plane crashed. Two others were seriously injured and hospitalized. The aircraft was en route from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Hargeisa, Somaliland. Kenyan authorities, including the Kenya Defence Forces and police, responded to the crash site. Investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the accident, and the plane's black box has been recovered. The crash destroyed homes in the area, and Kiambu County officials have pledged support to the victims' families.
