An ultralight Freccia aircraft slammed into a busy highway near Azzano Mella in Italy’s Brescia province on 23 July, killing the two people on board and briefly shutting a key road link between the A21 and A4 motorways. Authorities identified the victims as 75-year-old Milan lawyer Sergio Ravaglia and his partner Annamaria De Stefano, 60. Security-camera footage showed the plane descending almost vertically before striking the carriageway and bursting into flames. Several vehicles were scorched by the impact, but motorists escaped with only minor injuries, according to emergency services. Fire crews extinguished the blaze within an hour, and aviation investigators are examining the wreckage to determine why the single-engine craft lost control.
