Korean Air Lines Co. agreed to buy 103 Boeing jets in a transaction valued at roughly $50 billion, marking the largest aircraft purchase in South Korean aviation history. The order covers 50 737-10 single-aisle planes, 25 787-10 wide-bodies, 20 777-9 long-range jets and eight 777-8 freighters. Korean Air also signed an accompanying engine supply and maintenance pact with GE Aerospace worth about $13.7 billion, according to people familiar with the terms. The deal was announced in Washington shortly after South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the purchase highlights expanding trade ties and will support American manufacturing jobs. Korean Air said the additional aircraft, scheduled for delivery through 2030, will modernize its fleet and provide capacity for its planned integration with Asiana Airlines, enhancing long-haul passenger services and cargo operations.
