Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research and ex-girlfriend of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, has been sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in the FTX fraud scheme. Ellison, a Newton native and 29 years old, was also ordered to forfeit $11 billion and will serve three years of supervised release following her prison term. The sentencing took place in a federal court in New York, where Judge Lewis Kaplan acknowledged her substantial cooperation with prosecutors, which included testifying against Bankman-Fried at a trial last November. Despite her cooperation, the magnitude of the $11.2 billion fraud warranted a prison sentence. Ellison had pleaded guilty nearly two years ago and played a key role in the prosecution's case against Bankman-Fried, who received a 25-year prison sentence last year.

Sad to hear Caroline Ellison going away for 2 years for the FTX rugpull. If there's one crypto crook who I wouldn't mind keeping their money it's her for the powerful takes. https://t.co/oZ1FYC5adF https://t.co/51XIca0kbJ
