On October 24, 2024, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) held a joint field hearing in Okemos, Michigan, focusing on worker protections. CFPB Director Rohit Chopra emphasized the agency's commitment to creating a fair and transparent financial landscape for all workers. USDOL's Acting Secretary Julie Su spoke about the department's efforts to support and protect American workers. The event featured discussions on various issues impacting workers, with Chopra thanking Su and the Minnesota Nurses Association for their collaboration. Additionally, on October 25, Senator Tim Kaine participated in events supporting local workers, including a visit to Newport News Shipyard and a meeting with the Chamber for Hispanic Progress in Virginia Beach, where he highlighted the importance of education, healthcare, and housing improvements for community empowerment. Senator Tammy Duckworth also expressed support for union workers during Su's visit to Centralia.
Great to see @ActSecJulieSu visiting union workers in Centralia! Democrats will always work to protect workers’ rights and ensure every American can retire with dignity. Solidarity! https://t.co/QQUkmjVt4G
I joined @BobbyScott4VA3 and @MikeFeggans in Virginia Beach to meet with the Chamber for Hispanic Progress. Their efforts to improve education, health care, & housing are critical—I'm glad we got to hear more about how we can support their work. https://t.co/rXwV96oM9d
I started my day with @BobbyScott4VA3 and @USW_8888 greeting members during their morning shift change at Newport News Shipyard. We're always proud to stand with VA's workers. https://t.co/Jr09gDGzBj
