Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, has begun serving a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence (90 months) at FCI Cumberland in Maryland. Salame was convicted of campaign finance fraud charges related to his time at the fraudulent cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Prior to reporting to prison, Salame made headlines by updating his LinkedIn profile to announce his new 'position' as an inmate. His request to delay his prison term due to medical treatment for injuries sustained from a dog bite in June was denied by a Manhattan federal judge, who stated that Salame had already benefited from 'extremely generous' delays. The US prosecutors opposed the delay. Salame's surrender marks the second high-profile imprisonment of an FTX executive, following Sam Bankman-Fried's 25-year sentence.
