Paul Weiss has experienced a continued exodus of partners, with multiple litigation partners and associates departing to join Dunn Isaacson Rhee, a litigation boutique established last month by former Paul Weiss partners. This wave of departures follows a pro bono deal the firm struck with President Donald Trump on March 20, which has tested Paul Weiss's strategy to elevate its deals practice to the same elite level as its litigation work. Separately, 13 partners left King & Spalding's products liability and mass torts team to join Kirkland & Ellis, raising questions about the current standing of that practice group. Kirkland & Ellis has also recruited the head of Ropes & Gray's private equity industry group, further strengthening its ranks. Other firms such as Kilpatrick and MERGE are making strategic leadership additions, with Kilpatrick re-attracting a real estate partner and MERGE continuing its growth trajectory. Versant has also expanded its leadership team ahead of an upcoming Comcast spinoff.
